Smith and Nephew Corporate Event 09 February
10.00 SN2063 Party arrives at Edinburgh Airport to be met by fully qualified French speaking guide & transfer by executive coach to Edinburgh for a panoramic city tour including a stop on Calton Hill
As they come back to the front guests are “ambushed” by 2 wild Highlanders who will then stage a mock battle
12.30 Lunch at Lafayette, the city’s newest fine dining venue, situated in an attractive mock Tudor building overlooking a quiet cobbled street in the city’s West End.
14.00 After lunch transfer to Cameron House Hotel where they will enjoy a display of falconry in the walled garden
A demonstration will normally take 30/40 minutes and will involve a handler flying a variety of birds (Eg. eagle, owl, kestrel, harris hawk etc.) and guests will also have an opportunity to fly them.
16.00 Then guests proceed into the hotel for traditional afternoon tea in the Library and private check in.
Bags will be delivered directly to guests’ rooms
19.00 This evening transfer to the Winnock Hotel in Drymen for a pub supper in a private room followed by a Tintin quiz and games. (Games could be themed to fit in with Tintin storyline and would include darts, draughts & dominoes and card games ).
The party would be divided into 4 clans or teams for the quiz, but we suggest leaving the pub games unstructured.
Late evening return to Cameron House for overnight
During the night a “local newspaper” is slipped under each guest’s door - with a front page article about the arrival of Tintin and his friends in the area, hard on the trail of a notorious counterfeiter
0900 After breakfast the party will meet up in the hotel foyer. Here they will catch sight of Tintin, Snowy and Captain Haddock pursuing some strange characters in the hotel grounds. As the characters disappear from sight one of the criminals loses a few items including counterfeit money and pieces of a map.
These pieces are subsequently distributed among the 3 teams once they have been briefed on the day’s activities. They will also receive map and compass references for their 4 x 4 rally from Cameron House to Balmaha during which they will be expected to find some clues and perform tasks which should enable them to find a form of transport to take them across to Incailloch Island from Balmaha - this will depend very much on the weather and the water level in the loch at the time - small wooden rowing boats could be used if the loch is calm, otherwise they would have to use the Lady Jean, a larger motorised boat which was one of the fleet of vessels which rescued alllied soldiers from Dunkirk during the Second World War. Once on the island their mission is to find something which the counterfeiters have hidden.
The party then returns to the mainland for lunch at Ross Priory or in a local pub.
After lunch transfer to the showground in Drymen for clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, blindfold landrover driving and trout or course fishing.
Arriving back at the hotel late afternoon, participants might be faced with yet another challenge. Full highland dress outfits will have been delivered to their rooms and they have to work out exactly how these are worn.
This evening transfer to Glengoyne Distillery which is situated in the Blane Valley close to Loch Lomond. Glengoyne Single Highland Malt Whisky Distillery has been working continuously, using traditional methods since 1833.
The party will be welcomed on arrival by a kilted piper and then taken on a guided tour of the plant where they will learn all about the whisky making process.
They will then enjoy a tasty, traditional Scottish banquet followed by a tutored nosing competition which involves identifying various types of whisky from one another.
Towards the end of the meal a charming display of Highland dancing by young girls in traditional costumes, including the famous Sword dance.
Late evening transfer back to Cameron House Hotel
